AIM: To review our experience in the treatment of vulvar cancer by modified radical vulvectomy (MRV) in a selected group of patients. METHODS: In a retrospective analysis of a 5-year period, we studied 8 patients with vulvar cancer who underwent MRV, and diagnosed with early T1-T2 cancer. The primary tumor and groin lymph nodes were submitted to radical surgery, applying individual approach to each patient. RESULTS: In all patients, both operative and postoperative periods were uneventful and shorter as compared to patients in whom traditional approaches were used. Operative wounds healed by first intention. Until now, we have found only one local recurrence and the patient was successfully re-operated on. In all women treated by MRV we had a good cosmetic effect, as compared with patients who underwent radical vulvectomy, en-bloc resection or reconstructive surgery. CONCLUSIONS: MRV can be applied as a method of choice in selected patients with early vulvar cancer.

Up-to date treatment of oncological diseases, in particular the vulvar cancer, leads to increasing of survival, in which to the foreground outlines not only the physical health but as well better social adaptation, sexual and adequate mental life of patients. Reconstructive surgery takes place in the oncological practice more and more. For vulvar reconstruction after operative treatment can be used cutaneous flaps and grafts, skin-fascial and myocutaneous flaps. The autors present their experience by describing in details the technique of vulvar reconstruction by myocutaneous flaps from m. tensor fasciae latae. It helps for eliminating the negative results of enlarged operative therapy.

The ulcer disease is a chronic, cyclical and recrudescing illness, based on disturbing of the regulatory mechanisms of the stomach and duodenum. The ulcer disease is one of the social significant illnesses of our century, because approximately 10% of the people at least once in their life have clinical symptoms of ulcus duodeni.

14 women with diagnosis Ca colli uteri Ib stage were investigated. CAT (computer axial tomography) was carried out before and after surgery (Wertheim). CAT gave a picture of the tumor lesion as well as of the regional lymph nodes. This method proved fast, efficient and non invasive for the correct diagnosis of Ca colli uteri and surgery effect.

The aim of the authors was to investigate reliability of method, used by them, for diagnosis of extrauterine pregnancy EP (EP). 123 women with admission diagnosis: obs. graviditas extrauterine were studied retrospectively. It was established that the abdominal pain together with the triad of symptoms from the vaginal-abdominal examination: congested adnexae, enlarged uterus and painful cavum Douglasi were of great diagnostic significance. The highly predicting value and sensitivity of ultrasound examination women with EP emphasized the substantial contribution of echography for early and exact diagnosis, which together with timely operative intervention could contribute to preserve the reproductive capability of women.

Using the theory of branching age-dependent stochastic processes, probabilistic descriptions are given of the age distribution associated with cell generations, and of some processes containing the information on cells synthesizing DNA after the action of proliferative stimulus.

The probabilistic description of cell generation numbers in the populations induced to proliferate is considered on the basis of the model of branching age-dependent stochastic process. The recurrent formulas for generating functions (and moments) are derived for the following process which are of interest for the analysis of induced proliferation in closed cell populations: the number of cells in n-th generation horn up to the moment of observation, and the number of cell in n-th generation existing at a given moment.

A 151 E. coli strains isolated from diarrhea-affected pigs were studied for the presence of the antigen K88. The established strains positive for this antigen, belong to the serogroups: O149, O141, O139, O138, O18 and one strain of nondemonstrated O-serogroup. All positive strains produce antigen K88 on cultivation at 37 degrees C utilizing raffinose and forming gas. The same strains do not produce antigen K88 when cultivated at 18 degrees C.
